I've been watching horror movies with friends lately but besides a few moments, nothing really scares me much these days, I want that 'scared to turn the light off' lingering feeling afterwards. Does anyone have any good recommendations for stuff that really sticks with you?
For reference, the last thing I remember genuinely disturbing me like that was The Poughkeepsie Tapes
Psychological horror movies > Monster Horror movies > Serial Killer Horror Movies > Paranormal Horror movies
what are some genuinely scary movies that you've seen so far
The Poughkeepsie Tapes was good, INLAND EMPIRE, though not a full horror film, had parts that scared me on a really deep level, scenes from The Baby Of Mâcon really stuck with me, stuff like The Shining and a lot of modern A24 horror doesn't scare me much tho, but I do still enjoy them
Insidious was scary
Paranormal activity was scary
Blair’s witch was pretty terrifying the first time
Texas chainsaw massacre was scary
Psychological horror movies > Monster Horror movies > Serial Killer Horror Movies > Paranormal Horror movies
Paranormal movies are number one bullshit

I once saw someone describe the ending of the film as 'as if it was directed by an alien', and it really rings true, feels like the movie itself becomes hostile and inhuman

I hate how they butchered VHS 3 tho
S*** was the worst thing I’ve ever seen
The Ring is a good one
Rewatched that recently, crazy how scary the tape actually is
