i know it ain't the same thing but in grade school where i grew up they had this program to incentivize high performance. basically if you perform well, then you get to advance a grade in the middle of the year. i heard this is a thing almost everywhere but where i grew up it didn't exist, at least not openly until a certain year (ours).

the whole system was based on this one kid who was greatly outperforming the whole class. she was so brilliant i still remember and slightly hate her to this day because of it.

only problem with the whole system was that after it was revealed that this was an option and that you could go home and tell your parents you're too smart for the grade you're in, many kids started hitting those high grades. i'm talking regularly getting 95-100% for an extended period of time. okay it wasn't many kids but still it was like 4-5 of us. enough to cause a headache when picking.

when the time came to pick a kid, trouble started brewing because all our grades were so identical so they had to add other categories to pick kids other than performance. things like behavior, cleanliness, posture in class (yes, that was a thing), etc.

getting good grades was easy for me it was the other things i struggled with, and i was enraged because under the original agreement all you needed was good grades.

sure enough, i failed at all the other categories and they picked this other dude

i don't even remember if they openly talked about the system after that.

but i remember that feeling, i've experienced it at work too but i remember that for me, it has been going on since before adulthood. and it's some bullshit, and it's some bullshit and it's some bullshit. so sorry @op hope s*** gets better for you soon

Go somewhere else that values you more. Then when that place undervalues you that’s when you leave that place too.

Best way to move up and get raises you deserve is by switching companies

Yeah when people realize hard work doesn’t always get you pull the better. You could be the hardest working mf but if the big boss f*** with sally more, she’s already ahead even if she doesn’t put in as much work as you.

  • Like at my job the coo was only a kitchen manager less than 2 years ago. mfs can’t even get that position easily but since the ceo f***ed with him the hard way she pushed that nigga into power so fast when the chance opened up even tho there are way better candidates in administration imo. For the most part advancing is about who you know and how you guys relationship is, not what you can do.

Seen it too many times. It's either that or there's nobody else to fill the position, so you're next in line.
