but something is better than trying to ignore that it's a non-issue that something is ID being required to sign up for the things. And if verified users proceed to post content of minors than they get their account blocked, and their details are put on a s***offenders register.

the problem around that is users don't trust social media sites to not sell off their data to whoever the f*** who wants to sell you something.

they literally know everything about us, are likes, dislikes, what we engage with, how long we look at posts, etc

they sell all that to ad companies and it’s why we have so many ads tailored to us all the time

I think the easiest solution is to require social media companies to require a paid subscription to use. Or better yet to make companies not sell personal data as a source of income. It would be annoying for all of us, but it would be better since we literally decide what we use with our dollars.

Or have a paid option where they legally can't sell our data.
