shoutout OFT, shoutout KTT1 Wolf thread when Tyler was in there tweeting about us.
during the WOLF leak thread everyone was speculating the user "Dopestain" was actually Tyler
and people really thought this man had 10 minutes in the spotlight.. more like 10 years
and a grammy

damn i remember Sek too, crazy times
I appreciate that Tyler recognizes this album hasn’t aged well at all but still talks about it
Paradigm shift for sure. If you weren’t there you’ll never fully understand it.
People don’t realize how quickly he disowned goblin. Even by Wolfs promo cycle he was saying he would only keep a handful of tracks from Goblin. Even the album itself sounds like a passive aggressive f*** you to the hype it was supposed to live up to.
Obv lyrically it hasn’t aged well, but I think the production is the real issue with it. S*** sounds like a bunch of presets on FL studio with no real sense of creating a cohesive song. I have to imagine the label offered to pay for better sounding vsts but everyone was afraid to question Tyler’s work process or vision. I wonder how those songs would sound if he could produce them now.
This album is weird, means a lot to me listened to it 100s of times but I’ve always known it was kinda underwhelming. Like even as a huge Tyler stan I never really felt like this was a great album, but still this era was insane and luckily I truly enjoy all his other albums.
Still my favs from this are She, Transylvania, Nightmare, Tron Cat, A***og

Tyler was disowning Goblin within 3 months of release he really rushed that album though like he was trying to figure out what to do for the last couple of songs on twitter a week before he turned it in
Plus he probably barely had time to incorporate new sounds. He got signed in like Feb or March and the album dropped early May lmao
Tbf if he would've continued on the same path, he likely wouldn't be as big as he is now. Flower Boy and IGOR are top 10 all time for me but I ignore his previous work like a plague, except Cherry Bomb.
TOP 10 OF ALL TIME
Tyler is a GOAT, that’s real of him
he is an icon of the 2010s, but music wise he is far from being a goat brother, maybe if he sticks to producing and stops ruining his music with his s***ty vocals
Didn’t really age well and I don’t revisit really any of the songs but I had mad fun listening to this album during the era

Or maybe that’s your opinion and he disagrees?

one of the best examples of the music not being everything
rollout and other things around it are just as important people remember the era more than the album

Interesting point. As bad as this album was it did solidify him/OF regardless.

people throw around the word goat too easily fam, maybe you could argue he was one of the best hip hop artists of the decade (I disagree) but no f***ing way he is one the greatest musicians of all time, no f***ing way for real
