yeah if im watchin 1 im watching number 2 straight after
highkey lol, can't finish Godfather 1 and call it a night, gotta go for the back to back
I don’t really do comparisons unless it’s for like context, I don’t believe comparison to be an argument
But uhhh Francis Ford Coppola is one of the greats we sleep the most on to and take for granted, like you’ll see a thread about Scorsese and his name will be honored by so many and rightfully so!
But not so much for Coppola or Brian De Palma that are equally important talents, we quote some of their movies but don’t give their names as much credit if that makes sense
But Zack Snyder is great and influential tho
I'm not arguing against what you said, even tho I'm not the biggest fan of his, he definitely doesn't get the respect he deserves.
But, compared to other great directors, if you look at the full body of work you'd find that the percentage of notable movies in his filmography, is much smaller than that of most others, compared to Scorsese for example.

Ah, well, I guess so, I go more over quality than quantity.
Coppola did more than one defining movie and that’s enough if you ask to want from an artist, that takes talent.
I’d argue that he could still pull it off but Apocalypse Now really took the Hollywood of him, he always saw himself as an indie type and just went back to that on the low, and that’s cool I think! who else is content with that in the game?
But even then either way I’d probably pick more notable movies from his catalogue than other ppl would do, hell I think he did the best Dracula movie.

I guess it was choice to lay low (which I respect), but you can't blame anyone for not keeping him on their minds.
I feel like a lot of the new gen directors are content with staying indie actually (Safdies, Eggers, Cosmatos etc...) It allows them to have more control over their vision.

Well that’s just not fair lol Heath Ledger is still brought up as a reference

I could have seen that happen to Ledger, had he went into a more indie direction.
Look at Pattinson, till recently no one had heard anything about him since the twilights.
2 is my favorite movie ever. An ambitious epic that completely nails it and justifies its runtime. The ending is so haunting, and Pacino’s performance is flawless.
The re-edited together in chronological order cut with additional footage is amazing too
Where is this available?
Part 1
I already can’t stand you
bro has the WOAT taste and i aint ever hear him speak positively on any movie so far lol. just baits
Godfather 2 has always been in my top 3 since a child so
But I really do view them as one. GOAT-ish
brando is a big reason why I go with #1 but it's also Michael's transition. it's one of the great character arcs ever, the transformation from where he starts the movie and where he ends it.
and yes we get that same arc with De Niro in the 2nd film but it isn't as good IMO
