As a Godzilla fan this s*** still trash af man, Monsterverse isn’t perfect but at least all the movies pay homage and have some heart

thats a wild claim, movie has almost identical action beats to the original film for the first two acts.

at its core it is the same s***, a film about inter-imperialist competition and the effects of nuclear weapons. fans dislike it for arbitrary nerd reasons that I couldn't care less about.

You can’t seriously tell me you look at that character and say it’s a good GODZILLA incarnation

Runs and hides from the military (in f***ing NYC of all places too lol), the way he gets defeated is a huge eye roll moment, he uses none of his special abilities that make him stand out. Just a big dinosaur and it’s a known fact Emmerich didn’t know s*** about the history of Godzilla and didn’t give two s***s about him as a character

It’s fine if people like the movie, but that doesn’t capture what Godzilla is at all
