I honestly can't think of anything. It's pretty unique due to its setting and the cultural and societal problems that come along (which actually are the root causes of the major problems in their personal lives too).

It's also pretty different cause an average Indian movie would have spiced up the story and the entire presentation a whole lot ('masala movies' are quite popular here and the dominant ones commercially).
While the Western takes are quite caricaturish and focus on the poorest parts of the society.

it's not as flashy or useful to campaign on, but it actually has a theme and motif and a 'character theme' that is so catchy and memorable
