“ there are plenty of people calling it one of the worst films of the year and that just doesn't sit right with me”
direct quote from you in the Emilia thread
👀👀👀👀
still don't mean it wouldn't be a bottom 5 best picture winner
But why doesn’t it sit right with him 👀👀
Yeah, it wasn't one of the worst films of the year in a year where Deadpool & Wolverine, Joker 2, and Horizon Chapter 1 exist
It is very easily the worst awards contender of the year. It's in a tier of its own at the very bottom
No lie bro based off your post in here I was under the assumption you thought it was one of the worst this year
I thought Deadpool and Wolverine was fun
Real fun. The Chris evans cameo was smart and unexpected to me

Everything I say in an awards thread is relative to the other contenders
Emilia Perez had high points. El Mal was good. Mi Camino was good. Zoe Saldana was really good. But it is by far the weakest awards contender that I have seen. Like by an incredibly wide margin. I felt it was a lot closer to that tier of absolute slop I listed than it was to the other award contenders of the season. And to top it all off, both groups of people to whom it was meant to pander absolutely hate it.

Yeah but keep in mind Alotta people calling it the worst of the year are trans and Mexicans. You was just on they side earlier.

I am on the side of anyone who has anything bad to say about that film regardless of the extent
Just because it wasn't as bad as Red One doesn't mean it deserves to win awards
Also @twitch just to further the discussion I don't think the mere existence of the film is what those groups have a problem with. Obviously they dislike it because it's offensive, not helpful, and caricaturizes them but I think what they're mainly upset about is the fact that voters are using it as a way to feel good about themselves which is leading to it getting far more mainstream recognition and undeserved praise than it should.
Like I'm sure any group in the world could find material that exists and is highly offensive to them and/or their culture. But that material isn't being used by award voters to virtue signal either, you know what I mean?

Nah definitely. It’s clear Hollywood saw “oh trans??? Foreign language???? That’s a win!”
Hollywood is actually confused cus on one side you have the pandering. And on the other side you have Pixar clipping trans characters and Bob saying no more forcing messages into our Disney movies
Didn’t the New Yorker or one of them sites just write an article about “wokeness in film is finally dead”
