    Fundamentals

    Curry/Poole/Rollins
    Klay/Divencenzo/Quinndary(2way)/Quinnones(2way)
    Wiggins/Moody
    Draymond/Kuminga/Baldwin Jr
    Looney/Wiseman

12 roster slots and both 2ways accounted for

Gui and Jessup don’t seem likely to make the squad

Gimme a veteran big and Iggy and let’s take our L for the offseason

    Wish Dieng got signed

    Joe Lacob on TK's pod:

"I'm going to tell you your numbers are kind of messed up. We'll just say that. You were throwing numbers out like $400, $500 million. Those numbers are not even remotely possible. It's just not. I'm already in trouble with the rest of the league."

Context: Warriors had to pay 355 million total last season (184m to players, 170m as luxury tax payment: spotrac.com/nba/golden-state-warriors/cap/2021). They are a repeat offender of the luxury tax which means they will be punished for every dollar they spend. For every dollar they spend, they have to pay an extra $6.25 for luxury tax. Fans have been speculating what Lacob's budget is.. last year there was speculation his budget was $400 million. But he just debunked that rumor today in the podcast. They had to let go of Gary Payton II and Otto Porter because of repeater tax implications, retaining those 2 would've increased the payroll by close to $100 million more.

Jordan Poole and Andrew Wiggins will be free agents next year. Poole is due for a large increase (he's currently only getting paid $4 million). This makes it extremely hard to retain both while remaining under $400 million. They're at ~ $370 million this year.

This situation makes it more likely they trade for KD. Paying 1 guy max > paying both Wiggins and Poole max or near max contracts. Either that or they let go/trade one of the non steph contracts (klay, dray, Poole,Wiggins) to stay under the 400 million threshold

    Other notes from pod:

Lacob called next year’s salary situation with Poole and Wiggins coming up on a deal a “problem” and "extremely extremely difficult"

Stressed many times that $400m budget is impossible. Revenue is great, but expenses from players/stadium/development staff/front office are insane too

Says if they’re not competing next year, they will reconsider the salaries

Completely avoided the KD question, but he says they have to balance short term vs long term

you know how sometimes you see jonathan dribble and eveyrone immediately realizes hes gonna drive and throw up bullshit?

guis as athletic but doesnt telegraph it as much as kuminga, and hes already a better shooter and passer when defenders collapse on his drives

doubt he gets run w the first team but i expect him to put up better numbers in sc than weatherspoon this year

Wiseman is doing some thing well but none of the things that we need him to be doing now

He’s so far away and with Lacob saying we hit the wall on salary budget I don’t see how we can keep Poole and Wiggins next year unless Draymond leaves. Either ownership takes a hit for a season to bridge us to the 24-25 season when Klay contract and new TV deal makes it so we can keep everyone or we will be letting assets walk.

    Call the Nets

Dray for sure the center point of whatever is happening next salary wise

He's extension eligible next month. Him and Klutch definitely going be going after big money but he's obviously already in decline and that's only going to continue. Though between his very specific needs in terms of the talent you put around him and how him declining/aging only makes that more true, the rest of the league being cognizant of all of this and how he's never gonna want to be on a bad or even an average team, I'm not sure where the outside pressure comes from to secure him a big money extension.

Not sure how he would feel with Wiseman getting more minutes when he clearly hasn’t earned them

Wasn't sure about this because I don't know how well his game translates to the league but just saw this a non guaranteed deal that allows him to compete for a spot in camp so I'm with it now

should be ok if he slows his game down, def trust his shot (and everything else offensively lol) more than chiozza and him being way more athletic should translate on d
