You see that the official guarantee is 123 with the rest being some kind of mix of likely and unlikely incentives?
I think between that and assuming that it's gonna start low and increase over time as the cap rises it's not as bad as that 140 number that first popped up
Escalating contract would be huge. Same with the incentives being more likely past the 23-24 season. Would make the contract much more digestible

What's got you thinking the incentives are after that year?
Between Herro's deal being escalating (hate that he's the main comp for Poole, already feel like Poole is better and has way more upside) and the fact that you want young players that you expect to improve to be on escalating deals so their last year is the highest of the deal and gives the best number to build a potential extension on I'm almost sure when everything comes out it's gonna be an escalating deal
New media rights negotiations gonna make this a steal.
Warriors gotta figure out the next two years after this one before they benefit from that on this deal and with their tax situation in general because the new media deal doesn't start until 25-26 and they're already set to have an insane bill these last two years

More so meant that I was hoping they would be considered likely after the 23-24 year which is when they are counted against the cap
If the incentives are all-nba or all star based we’d be ecstatic for him to hit those. Not sure what else would qualify for a 20m contract increase
Extension got me thinking maybe it’s Wiggins last year rather than Draymond’s
Nah
Wiggins in his prime at the most sought after position in the league, shown he can be an elite defender at that position, can shoot, get his own shot (not elite at this but even being decent at this off the wing is helpful), only becoming more and more familiar with the Warriors system and a new contract would take him through most of his prime
FO definitely making it a priority to keep him on the team

Right but because of that it will be hard to get him for a price point that Lacob can sign off on
Whereas Draymond realistically commands a smaller salary

Poole contract really going to test what Lacob’s spending limit is. 23-24 tax bill will be massive even with Draymond gone but with the new tv deal and Klay contract ending, 24-25 should be similar to last years bill.
In Myers we trust
So let’s take a quick look at it. This is on a per-season basis, in place for each of the four years.
Poole will make an extra $250,000 if he plays at least 65 regular-season games and the Warriors reach the first round of the playoffs.
Poole will make an extra $250,000 if he plays at least 65 regular-season games and the Warriors reach the second round of the playoffs.
Poole will make an extra $250,000 if he plays at least 65 regular-season games and the Warriors reach the conference finals.
Poole will make an extra $250,000 if he plays at least 65 regular-season games and the Warriors reach the NBA Finals.
Poole will make an extra $250,000 if he plays at least 65 regular-season games and the Warriors win at least 52 regular-season games.
The NBA has deemed all five of those as likely incentives, meaning they will initially be counted against the salary cap in Poole’s projected number but won’t count against the actual tax bill unless he meets the required incentive.
But those only make up $1.25 million of the extra $4.25 million per season in incentives lining the Poole contract extension. The other four incentives are considered unlikely and don’t count against the initial salary-cap number. Here they are on a per-season basis, also in place for each of the four years.
Poole will make an extra $1 million if he wins MVP.
Poole will make an extra $1 million if he wins Defensive Player of the Year.
Poole will make an extra $500,000 if he makes any of the three All-NBA teams.
Poole will make an extra $500,000 if he makes any of the two All-Defensive teams.
Slater mentioned he had a documentary crew filming him for this on a podcast but I assumed it was scrapped...for it to still be on AND include stuff about him punching Poole....

Man this was a whole lot of nothing
Zero self awareness to put out something that's probably gonna enflame the situation more and it's not even good
love that we value development over seeding, getting to watch the youngsters mature is gonna make the reg season infinitely more watchable
so glad nbas back man fr
