Gonna be real I side with GoldLink here
I don't side with GoldLink's criticisms of Mac Miller, but I do also think Mac Miller's Divine Feminine was influenced by GoldLink's music. Far more importantly, Mac passed away 8 years ago and GoldLink has made a lot of great music over the years. The art shouldn't be forgotten about just because of a distasteful tweet nearly a decade ago, and it would probably not keep getting brought up if the person he was tweeting about wasn't white.

The only issue with how GoldLink talked about Mac was how he worded it, not the basic idea that Mac took inspiration from GoldLink.
Shoulda just said something like "I appreciated the time we spent touring together, and I always felt like some of my music influenced his work on The Divine Feminine, which made me connect to the album a lot." Same message but isn't condescending and hurtful
ngl hilarious he tried to throw tyler under the bus here too
what he say im not tryna listen to this tbh
Anderson Paak already packed this nigga up years ago
you couldn’t pay em 500 million to click play on a gold link song
what he say im not tryna listen to this tbh
essentially this but he had an extra line about switching from tyler's tesla to his benz as hes saying this lol
"you should probably ask tyler how he feel about that s***" yeah im sure this would really help clear s*** up for everybody
Haven’t listened to the song yet but I’d kind of be mad too if people kept bringing up this one bad post that I made years ago. Especially considering Goldlink still makes good music. But that’s just my opinion. That post about Mac Miller was terrible and he should’ve got all the smoke for it. But that’s over now. It’s been over. It’s time to move on. And these blue check accounts that just post s*** for engagement?? Don’t even get me started on that
These artists are bigger than their music and if your personality sucks so much as to make something like that, then idk why I’d bother w u
He would’ve been better off never addressing it
Or just take accountability for disrespecting a widely loved artist shortly after he died. Even if his anger was justified that move was weak as f***
ive gotten more likes on this dead forum telling p**** bacon to kill himself than this tweet has

He coulda said something like

He used to lend me his sweaters' or something
Instead of
'yeah y'all still mad about that, i was cool with him but he did that

It’s tbe type of people who liked him anyway he never had a chance to get a fanbase that wasn’t like that.
i think people pin so much on the mac post but really i don't think goldlink knew how to grow his sound post-Diaspora. his early music was so great and unique but he didn't really know how to go forward with it for the bigger audience Crew gained him. the mac s*** definitely dampened perception but really i don't think his career would be much different otherwise
Ppl realized he only had one flow and it was curtains
His last album Enoch was great
