Kendrick Lamar GKMC Narrative Location Guide: Where It All Happened

    kanyetothe.com/threads/kendrick-lamar-gkmc-narrative-location-guide-where-it-all-happened.2155673

This is the exact place where Kendrick's GKMC Deluxe Edition Album Cover was taken that I found in Compton on Google Street View. As you can see the houses in the background have the same structures and windows that are on the album cover.

Here's another angle. Notice all the same cracks in the road, road stains, and oil stains are also still there and apparent.

Also if you zoom in on the album cover where the curb ends you can see the numbers "617". The van is actually covering a 1 and the full number is "1617".

Kendrick's Momma's van is parked in the driveway of a blue/green house which I'm guessing is to be Kendrick's house he lived in with his parents and family growing up and during GKMC.

I also identified it to be the same house that Kendrick and his Dad Kenny are outside of on the Uncle Bobby And Jason Keaton video from the Kendrick Lamar EP in 2009.

You can also tell the van in the driveway is the same Purple Dodge Caravan because it has all the same dents on the back bumper as in this video:

The place where Kendrick's GKMC Deluxe Edition Album Cover was taken is directly across the street from Kendrick's house.

Sky View of Kendrick's house. Where you see the 2 cars parked on the side of the street is where the Kendrick's Momma's Van was when the photo was tooken that is now the GKMC Deluxe Edition Album Cover.

It should be noted that Kendrick lived in the general area of Willowbrook on the West Side of Compton. He went to see Sherane all the way at Paramount on the East Side of Compton.

This is the General area that Kendrick lived in Willowbrook on the West Side of Compton. Notice where places like Centennial High School, Gonzales Park, and Food 4 Less are all in vicinity to where he lived.

Food 4 Less is where Kendrick said his Mom shopped at on Compton State Of Mind. Also, Food 4 Less is where the pastor, or "Unknown Spiritual Lady" see's Kendrick and his friends and starts praying with them in the skit at the end of the song on "Sing About Me, I'm Dying Of Thirst." Also, Kendrick's Mom mentions in the last skit and voice mail on the song "Real": "Look, the neighbors say they seen you and your little friends over there by Food 4 Less and they was preaching to you over there telling you about the good book because right about now that's what ya'll need."

10 blocks up from where Kendrick lived is Centennial High School, where Kendrick went to High School. Right across the street from Centennial is McNair Elementary School is where Kendrick went to Grade School. And a little ways from both, but in the same vicinity is Vanguard Middle School where Kendrick went to Middle School.

Centennial High School is extra important to the Narrative as it is where Kendrick went to high school around the time of GKMC. West Coast legends Dr. Dre and DJ Quik also attended to Centennial High School.

Centennial High School is also where Kendrick went to high school with Arron Afflalo in which he mentions in the 1st verse of "Black Boy Fly": "I used to be jealous of Arron Afflalo, I used to be jealous of Arron Afflalo. He was the one to follow, He was the only leader foreseeing brighter tomorrows."

Kendrick also says in an interview that all the experiences he remembered while he attended Centennial High School was the whole mastermind behind Section.80.

On Black Boy Fly at the beginning of the 3rd verse Kendrick says "My mama didn't raise me up to be jealous-hearted, Like most of the winners call it. Reguardless of where you stay hold your head and continue marching." Kendrick said this because in reality only the successful people call people in Kendrick's situation jealous because they're now above wanting things that trivial and they lose sight of where they came from.
But unlike them, Kendrick will never forget where he came from. Going back to Centennial High School in 2012 to speak to the students and relay the message to Don't give up. And No matter what your upcoming is like, you can do whatever you set your mind to.

The famous graffiti wall that Kendrick uses in a lot of his videos that says "JESUS IS LORD AND HE LOVES YOU" is just 2 blocks down from where Kendrick lived on Parmalee Ave. Also, Piru St, where the bloods originate, is just 2 blocks up from where Kendrick lived. If you hadn't already noticed, Kendrick lived on 137th Street and Parmalee Ave

Alright, so now we're finally getting back into the Narrative. On Sherane a.k.a. Master Splinter's Daughter Kendrick says "I met her at this house party on El Segundo and Central." El Segundo Blvd and Central Ave is a major intersection in Compton. This intersection is also very close to Centennial High School, where Kendrick went to High School.

On The Art Of Pure Pressure Kendrick says "We speeding on the 405 passing Westchester" The 405 Is an Interstate Freeway in California, and they are passing Westchester, a middle class area in LA.

Also on The Art Of Pure Pressure Kendrick says "Basketball shorts with the Gonzales park odor." I'll give you this annotation from Rap Genius: "Gonzales Park Community Center is located in the heart of Compton. There are playgrounds, a swimming pool and basketball courts. They have obviously been playing ball there earlier in the day. Gonzales Park is also mentioned in "Sing About Me, I'm Dying of Thirst" as a place not only where they could play basketball, but also a place where prostitutes are picked up in Compton."

Also at the end of the skit in The Art Of Pure Pressure, Kendrick's friend says that they're going to "drop K. Dot off at his mama van, at the park, cause I know he trying to f*** on Sherane tonight." So this leads me to believe that the park they're talking about is Gonzales Park, So I track Kendrick's route to Sherane from Gonzales Park.

Also at the start of The Art Of Pure Pressure Kendrick says "Everybody, everybody, everybody. Everybody sit your b**** ass down and listen to this true mothafuckin' story told by Kendrick Lamar on Rosecrans, Ya Bish!"

Alright so now we're back to Sherane a.k.a. Master Splinter's Daughter. In the 3rd verse Kendrick says "So now I'm down Rosecrans in a Caravan Passing Alameda, my gas meter in need of a pump." Here's another annotation from Rap Genius: "Kendrick is driving his mom's Caravan down Rosecrans. A street that goes all the way from Willowbrook on the West Side of Compton, to Paramount on the East Side of Compton. Alameda is a street, connecting to California State Route 47 that runs through Compton. He's using this route to get to Sherane's crib. The car on the cover of the deluxe edition is a Dodge "Caravan".

Also you can see the Compton Court building and the Compton County Building that Kendrick talks about on "County Building Blues" on the other side of Compton Blvd.

As we ride further down Rosecrans we stop at two more significant intersections, Long Beach Blvd and Bullis Rd. Long Beach Blvd is a block away from Lueders Park where "Kiesha's Song" from Section.80 takes place. Kendrick also mentions Lueders Park on "Backseat Freestyle when he says "Park it in front of Lueders, next to that Church's Chicken". Louis Burgers, right across the street from Lueders Park, is where Kendrick's uncle got killed. On "Money Trees" Kendrick says "That Louis Burger never be the same, A Louis belt will never ease that pain."
Also on M.A.A.D City Kendrick says "Seen a light-skinned * with his brains blown out, At the same burger stand where beep hang out" Kendrick has confirmed that this line isn't about his uncle getting killed, but I believe that the burger stand he's talking about is Louis Burger. In fact, Lueders Park is an area of Comton, CA that has notoriously been home to the Lueders Park Pirues, a gang that's part of the Bloods alliance. So it would make sense that Louis Burger is the same burger stand where a certain someone to hangs out and is likely gang affiliated.
Kendrick also says on "County Building Blues" "I've been waiting on this day since Dr. Dre and Pac, Was on Rosecrans in that burgerstand at '95"
I believe that this burger stand he's talking about here too, is Louis Burger. Also at the end of the song Kendrick reveals he was with his Dad on Bullis Road during the Rodney King Riots.

The famous Compton Swap Meet in the Compton Fashion Center is also in between Longe Beach Blvd and Bullis Rd.

Alright so now we're back to Sherane a.k.a. Master Splinter's Daughter. In the middle of the 1st verse Kendrick says ""Where you stay?" She said "Down the street from Dominguez High" Okay, I know that's borderline Compton or Paramount. "Well is it Compton?" "No." she replied." Dominguez High is indeed located in Compton, CA. Paramount borders east of Compton. Kendrick's interest in whete her home falls within Compton boundaries has significance later on the album when gang and region affiliation come into play. Sherane told Kendrick that her crib is just down the street from Dominguez High School.

Dominguez High School has produced 3 current NBA players including Tyson Chandler, and NFL player in Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman, as well as MC Ren (of N.W.A fame).

Watts, Carson City, and Figueroa Street on the other side of South Central Ave are all within short driving distance of where Kendrick lived. So Kendrick, Jay Rock, Ab-Soul, ScHoolboy Q, and Top Dawg basically all lived in the same vicinity as well.

In conclusion, Kendrick really lived in The Heart of Compton, California, USA. As Kendrick say's in Ab-Soul's Outro on Section.80, He's not on the outside looking in, he's not on the inside looking out, he's in the dead center, looking around!

Anyway that's everything that I've found. If I missed anything Kendrick has you covered in the Compton State Of Mind Video:

Thanks for reading. I hope that you now have a better understanding of the Narrative story behind GKMC and where Kendrick came from.

The M.A.A.D City of Compton California.

The Good Kid, K-Dot a.k.a Kendrick Lamar

I hope you learned as much reading this post as I did making it. Thank you to all Kendrick Lamar Fans, TDE Fans, and HiiiPoWeR Fam a like.
