Of MJ's voices I never cared too much for his rock/rockier type voice like on dirty diana, state of shock or beat it but that's my main criticism tbh and it's minor anyway

Ariana and Beyonce are way more vocally dynamic + more versatileif you enjoy her warbling in patois on those beats more power to you

shaleiroseIt definitely played a factor and helped him stand out, but the voice was also a huge part of it. If he didn’t have that voice he never would’ve popped
I'm not saying I remember everything vividly cause I was fairly young back then, but everyone in the early 2010s was attracted to Weeknd cause of his wild ass inventive production and internet aesthetic, his sultry vocals were just the cherry on top. At least that's what attracts me to his music more than anything else
