this thread is confusing me for two reasons

1 - the title clearly says “good” singers not “great” singers so Whitney, Mariah, Beyoncé and Ariana are automatically out of the convo. someone like Abel being mentioned makes sense but vocal prodigies? no. @op should rename the title

2 - the title is clearly about folks who are good at what they do but just don’t strike a chord w you sonically or emotionally. so i’m confused why so many mfs are mad that folks who are objectively good about they do but not liked by specific posters are being mentioned

with that being said - and i’m contradicting my 2nd point by saying this - y’all wrong as f*** for not liking Whitney Houston’s voice

For your first point, I believe OP means singers who are good/great at the ability to sing but you just don't like their voice for other reasons. So Whitney, Mariah, Ariana, and Beyonce, etc. can 100% be mentioned because they could just not like their voice for other reasons

Beyoncé is interesting cause i like her a lot but i get why she can leave people cold

her rendition of this is technically excellent and she’s a much better singer than Justin Timberlake. but i feel so much more listening to his version. speaking of Bey/JT, unpopular opinion but i MUCH prefer the version of Until the End of Time w him singing by himself as opposed to their duet

Beyoncé has always been a beast, but i didn’t start loving her voice until the 2010s when she got that richer, deeper tone. on some of her earlier 2000s records, her voice sounded too shrill for me to fully appreciate sometimes even if i hear its on point. hearing her belt with that huskier tone tho…

the words “good” and “great” have such different connotations to me. to me, good means passable whereas great implies undeniable excellence. referring to Whitney as a “good” singer feels disrespectful. but i get what you mean
