Someone uploaded the digital bonus track to youtube.

I love Gorillaz b-sides, always fun little oddities.
this song is so amaziing outside the cringey “empty dream machine without you” part
this was/is my least favorite of the album but so many people have talked about how good it is - which hasn't changed my opinion but it encourages me because it feels like my criticisms of it aren't as objective.
Maybe it'll reveal itself to me another day.
Album's excellent. Been listening non-stop
I kinda hate when artists go like "THIS is the real one you've been wanting from us", but with Gorillaz it kinda makes sense.
Humanz was them trying to make it all work again after a 7 year hiatus, The Now Now was an addendum to Humanz to a degree. And then Song Machine (as amazing as it was) was a COVID-19 compilation album and recently they've revealed that Cracker Island was an amalgamation of a bunch of different stuff. Some of the songs were for a Song Machine Season 2, and the rest of it was made in-part for the Netflix movie that got canned or made while they were waiting for that to turn out. So this really is the first time they've done an album with an intention of doing a cohesive record since 2010.
idk if these numbers are good/bad/whatever now that they've gone independent, but it's kinda nuts that every album of theirs sans Song Machine and The Fall have peaked in the top 10. They've still got it 25 years later.
Even though this record had months of lead-up, there was no proper "radio single" outside of Orange County which was only released about a month ago.

You can feel it. Damon himself said in an interview the other day with Fantano that this feels like a true sequel to Plastic Beach and you can really sense it. They are no question at their best when they are both able to be totally involved, in the same room, sharing the same brain from inception to release.

Yeah I just don't love the erasure of "lesser than" albums but knowing Song Machine and Cracker Island both were more compilation/transitory records makes sense. Esp now knowing all the Netflix movie stuff falling through
intro is literally gorgeous. possibly the best Gorillaz intro
Intro w/ the Dennis Hopper feature was special for sure
Wish the Johnny Marr features felt more substantial, ala Peter Hook on Aries. Only one I really picked up was on Plastic Guru
Plastic guru is so cringe, sounds like a f***in Care Bears song lmfao
s*** sounds so much like a flaming lips song it's crazy

Nah bruh it may be cohesive but Damon Albarn is a huge weak link and just mumbles his way thru the album not leaving any real stand out song writing behind
Instrumentally album is great with the Indian vibes but Damon sounds the same basically all the way thru, monotone and dull af, doesn’t deliver any signature choruses on par with s*** like baby queen, just muttering and mumbling with a reference to the mountain here and there
Due to this the album is bottom 3 gorillas easily
Intro track is an instrumental and prolly the best thing on this weak ass album
How has Beach House never worked with this group?
who tf designed this

I'll be honest I have not listened in full to the last couple of Gorillaz albums cause most just felt like excursions to work with people rather than challenging the listener, and going against the grain by shaking things up like they used too. While I do think Damon tries to blatantly bring back some of the Plastic Beach magic (I mean look at the features) some of the songs are not that strong and him being the center piece vocalist maybe should change in the future. He keeps laying on that loudspeaker effect on his voice, and I do not think he needs it. Some of the vocal processing is garish etc. Despite those issues this is a step in the right direction. Jamie's art direction is the best its been in years, and there is a good cohesion and flow to the project. If Damon can lead another project like this, but strips things down a bit more I think Gorillaz might legitimately have something good in store for the future.
*worst
you know the album's truly great when the week-late trolls come out to play
Loving this album but $150 for nosebleeds

The album's not trying to have "signature choruses" and their presence or absence shouldn't be a major contributing factor in whether the album succeeds or not. It's not trying to be a pop compilation album. Damon's lyricism on here is pretty stellar because in many ways that's the focus of a lot of these songs. The same criticisms you're throwing around could easily be levied at Plastic Beach and half of the band's other records.
Ragging on Damon's melody writing on an album with Moon Cave, Happy Dictator, Orange County (!!), Delirium, Plastic Guru, etc. is just plain wild my guy. All of those songs have very memorable choruses/melodies on an album that's not even prioritizing that lol
