im a f***ing broke bum with no job prospects so I’ve been feeding myself by asking everyone with a bunch of stuff in the grocery cart if they want me to help load their stuff for them and supposedly somebody stole a wallet or purse from a customer yesterday and they blamed it on me so now I’ve been trespassed and the only way I’ve been able to consistently make 20 dollars a day has now been taken away from me

It did occur to me that i should have tried harder to advocate on my own behalf because this is the second time I’ve had cops roll up on me at that sams club and the first time they confirmed before i even had to ask them ( which I deliberately planned to do before that day ) that I was not committing a crime by offering people help

I was literally in the middle of putting this lady’s things in the trunk when the first cop from today made me stop and “detained” me within 30 seconds of him speaking to me. First he said there was a report of a stolen purse then the loss prevention guy who came out to talk to him said it was a wallet, Im not trying to make a big deal out of all this but it almost feels like a manager or some employee asked someone to call and file a fake report so that they would have grounds to get me trespassed and the thought of that was super intimidating so I just signed the piece of paper without pushing back when I really wanted to

I wasn’t even offended but he basically accused me of being mentally challenged twice so the second time I said “sir im not special needs” so he apologized and once they let me go he tried to justify it by saying he appreciated me for being cooperative and having such a calm demeanor as if every interaction a black man has with a police officer is bound to go a certain way and the fact that I never said anything disrespectful and was able to hide my anger and fear so well means I probably have autism or something
