I’m trying to see something with this , Illmatic obviously way more important lyrically and as a statement for early hip hop but i want to see how we compare an album that comes from that early hip hop one bar loop era with some of the best writing vs grad
I was just thinking about this where some people don’t like that stone age hip hop instinctive paths and Illmatic when ready to die came out same time as Illmatic but sounds way more futuristic, even though i think Illmatic is way more important abut the music is the early years of development for hip hop and how you compare albums like that maybe grad not the best comparison to do but lmao i know most people would choose TCD or LR over grad though
I know i haven’t done these in a min
I’ll post more, name some album vs or song vs suggestions

for me its illmatic
Illmatic because it’s more concise, but Grad comes closer than I’d expected; it’s definitely Ye’s peak
Classic ktt2
"Graduation's" a top 4 Ye album & a classic, but "Illmatic" is literally Hip-Hop's bible.

his peak commercially and in making stadium hits. his peak as a rapper is mbdtf/good fridays until cruel summer and as an overall artist 808s until yeezus.
