People only say this after their favorite artist lose instead of noticing way before
Did they ever matter? They’re not voting for what is subjectively best, they vote amongst peers and clout.
Every year this same sentiment gets passed around and every year people stop caring after two weeks
People only say this after their favorite artist lose instead of noticing way before
ya my favorite artist is lizzo bro
having it confirmed (even tho we always already knew) that the grammys is shady, dirty and protects sexual predators behind the scenes was the final nail in the coffin for me.
tyler’s performance and win was a good victory but even then, his lack of nominations besides that 1 and everything else involved just let’s you know it’s no coming back.
Jethro Tull beat Metallica for the first ever metal award
It's never meant a thing
and Will Smith won the first ever rap award. Tbh the show only means something because we give it that power.
i’m not anti-awards shows. my problem is that while the grammys have no credibility, neither does the other shows. As tone deaf as the Grammys are, they’ve still done more to acknowledge “alt” stars in black music than BET. Why aren’t we watching left of center black artists like Solange, Tyler, Donald or Brockhampton take the stage. at BET they’ve repeatedly ignored a whole lane of our own people to focus on legendary tributes, R&B medleys and trap niggas lmao. The funny thing is the non-mainstream artists actually would drive up engagement and ratings because that’s what people are actually invested in. BET didn’t treat Donald like a star until he won hella emmys and grammys and had the biggest song in the country. He had to become a star across the world before he even got acknowledged by them. and by that point he’s probably jaded from the whole thing.
and when niggas get upset about the grammys, people say to support the black show instead... nigga we not even nominated at the black show lmao
and Will Smith won the first ever rap award. Tbh the show only means something because we give it that power.
Worst than that. Will Smiths first record was fine even if there were others that could’ve won over him. The issue was that they finally added rap to the Grammys, BUT they refused to air the rap award. They weren’t even going to give Will Smith the award on TV. Then Will and other artists boycotted the Grammys.
Push wasn’t necessarily throwing shade at Will with that line, but at the Academy Awards and how they handled rap that first year.
