have to say i do have some mixed feelings on Dead and Co though ngl
I was fading it but after the videos dropped I gotta go. I’m hoping they extend the run to October lol I have the same bday as Bobby and John Mayer.

Same lol but have you seen them live?
Finally came around to them last year after like 15 years of frustrating indifference
This is the one that did it;
Same lol but have you seen them live?
yeah in 2022 i did
yeah in 2022 i did
Can't argue with you then lol I've met so many people that won't even go see them and give it a try.
I understand the whole "theyre basically a corporation now" thing but the people that just hate John Mayer being in the band irk me.

RIP TO A LEGEND
Imagine having to stand behind him tho lol

Mayer is the best part of it. definitely were a few good jams when i saw
yeah the corporate cash cow part is a big part of it but also just hard to shake the full nostalgia act feeling. being the world's highest grossing cover band isn't really a great thing. plus feels wrong to hear people actually refer to them as grateful dead when its just weir and hart left.
them doing the whole "final tour" ordeal and then turning around for massive Vegas residency doesnt sit right either
respect to them as pioneers and for hanging around the black panthers for all those years, but it ain't for me
some of the best

I agree with everything but I think the final tour situation was just them getting to old to do it like they do. Summer was kicking their old asses. Mfs just needed some guaranteed air conditioning lol

they had a bunch of old boomers scrambling and spending hundreds of dollars to see the advertised 'final tour' while plotting massive vegas residency where they knew full well the same people would travel and pay for that too
and ive seen people say "they said final tour not final shows ever!" but thats a bit of a cop out imo
and for the sphere i wont give too much judgment cuz im sure its way different in person but was surprised to hear they were already re-using a lot of the visuals for the 2nd concert there, i thought theyd at least have every weekend be more of a unique experience

I feel you on that. I think the sphere is gonna leave a lot of people that either do multiple shows or watch too much beforehand disappointed.
Phish sacrificed really detailed crazy visuals for the ability to change it up every night and Dead and Co shot themselves in the foot by doing really crazy CG visuals that are so render heavy they only have enough for one weekend lol like I’m pretty sure one of the excuses was that some of the s*** isn’t done rendering 😂
From what I’ve seen they should have sold it as more of a movie experience to tame expectations but then nobody would buy multiple shows.
Ive been reading a lot about them today bc of Bill Walton, where do I start. afaik their live stuff is better than studio right

Yeah most of the heads barely even listen to the studio stuff
I'd start with Live/Dead if you want something psychedelic or Europe 72 if you want something more accessible and roots.
I like starting people off with this legendary hall of fame jam I posted above tho, the highlight of their most famous concert
