greta gerwig + cast + brand recognition from barbie
Also its supposed to be something in the vein of The Truman Show, so the Barbie stuff is only the surface
Gonna be like Toy Story with more product placement a la Lego Movie
(Barbie and Ken escape Barbie world because Barbie wants “more” and Ken has an idealized view of it, both have some hardships but eventually find their place)
It’s a little girl movie. Tf does the cast have to do with that? You’re gonna go into the theater solo as a grown man to see a movie filled with little 10 year old girls in the audience. Y’all are creepy
The trailer ends with the characters saying they are gonna “beach each other off”
This will definitely be a film that adults can enjoy lol
I’m sure myself and a lot of other dudes will be going on a movie date to see this with their girls, and there’s nothing wrong with that . Movies should be enjoyed by everyone
Grown men having 30 pages about Barbie is weird af. Straight pedo behavior
Bro is now projecting himself really hard
Bro is now projecting himself really hard
I’m not seeing this movie. Try again
its rated PG 13 and its being marketed towards adults and kids
This will flop deservedly. Barbie is a kids brand
This will flop deservedly. Barbie is a kids brand
So would adults going to see a GI Joe movie be weird?

Nah… this s*** gonna be huge.
Industry been regarding this as one of the best scripts in a long time. Actors were fighting over roles to get into this.

Is the dialogue about to start about millennial and Gen Z adults still being attached to things that are initially marketed to kids?
Is the dialogue about to start about millennial and Gen Z adults still being attached to things that are initially marketed to kids?
no but it will start the dialogue about how every movie needs an established brand attached to it

That’s the unfortunate state of Hollywood at the moment
Original ideas rarely succeed in theaters and IPs dominate
Original ideas that are successful end up becoming IPs

Gen Alpha season otw
So would adults going to see a GI Joe movie be weird?
GI Joe, TMNT, Transformers, Power Rangers all kid IPs that were made more adult oriented in movie adaptations
And unlike those I don’t even think this is supposed be a straight Barbie adaptation either
Super Mario Bros is an actual kids movie with 59 pages on here
I still like watching some kids movies like Sonic, Pixar, etc I don’t watch ever single one in theaters but when I do go I’m not paying attention to who’s filling up the other seats

Nah this def seems like it’s going to have Truman Show elements and stuff like that

Original ideas did succeed. Those are medium sized movies such as rom coms or comedies.
Those don't exist anymore cause of Transformers, Jurassic Park, MCU, and DCEU. So much money is funneled into to those projects to get as much money back.
So it's only low budget $50 mill movies or $300 mill movies being made. Nothing in between without an existing IP.

Ticket to Paradise last year may have proved to Hollywood there’s still a market for rom coms

Keyword being did
Streaming does play a part in the near erasure of the mid-budget theatrical movie too
Hell, Air, something that you would think could cost $40 mil is budgeted at $90 mil which is not mid size. That’s a modest blockbuster budget. Obviously there’s other factors like casting and licensing that come into play but even then Air isn’t going to come close to Mario at the box office this weekend.
unironically i think it’s cause people saw margot robbie’s letterboxd and that she used truman show as an inspiration so folks are expecting some avant garde bait and switch
that only relates to the film nerds tho rlly
greta gerwig and film nerds?
greta gerwig makes good movies all of sudden?
