I agree that ofc dictating a films worth solely by its success is nothing and it’s stupid

But

If you like a films creators, you want the film to be successful so that they get to make more films the way that they want to. If a director we love gets a huge budget and blows it on a flop, studios will be more apprehensive in green lighting their future stuff & in giving them the budgets they would want.

Sony 9 times out of 10 wouldn’t have made a Spiderverse sequel because it didn’t do well. Do you want to live in a world without more spiderverse movies??? Sure the first one slapped but it didn’t do well. No way they get 100m dollars to make another one

And I guess you also just want to see them win, the same way you would a sports team or any celebrity you like reaping success and validation through their talents. I don’t wanna see a kendrick album do absolutely terrible numbers despite it not making a difference on if it’s good or not. I want to see amazing art be popular and see my favourite people doing big things

And if you like a genre, you want Hollywood to see people have a taste for it. They’ve always blindly followed where the dollar is but it’s become more and more drastic.
