She refused to watch it
She also refused to watch Tar and Asteroid City for some reason she gets really annoying when she hears stuff about films she doesn’t like the sound of
She’s probably right, she’d hate those films
Yeah I was in a test screening back in April. 4/5 for me
Funniest movie of the last 5 years gets 4/5 lol

Have you seen comedies of the past 5 years
Up to 94% now

Did the feminist messaging ever feel obnoxious to you? Do u feel like it made fair points?

Well it’s trying to do a lot more than just be a comedy. I thought the extended product placement in one particular sequence was awful. (I know it seems dumb to complain about product placement in a film about a toy but once you see it you’ll immediately recognize what I’m talking about.) And although most of the emotional beats worked for me there were some that fell flat
Also what is the funniest movie of the last five years? Seems like a low bar
Oppenheimer will have to be the best reviewed Nolan movie ever to beat Barbie reviews

Nah the feminist messaging felt natural and worked for me. It was the existential “what does it mean to be human” parts that didn’t land. The feminist stuff I thought was all really clever and provided a lot of the laughs

Oh thank God
I read one review that said “take a shot every time you hear the word ‘patriarchy’” and I was worried it’d be cringe

Probably EEAAO, Marcel the Shell, The French Dispatch, or Beau is Afraid

I’d say Barbie clears all as far as laughs for me. EEAAO is close. But I might be influenced by my Barbie screening being 100% full and my EEAAO one being at like 10% capacity. You know you always laugh more in a packed house

Oh forshur forshu, full audience for EEAAO is a transcendent experience
Wow, I feel a lot better going into Barbie, I’m stoked
those reviews
Did you doubt they'd be good? This is so expected lol. Nothing crazy.
Nobody takes audience scores seriously
Audiences do.
All I'm saying is that movies can get positive critical buzz and take a huge hit with WOM when people start turning on it for "pushing agendas."
I'm progressive so this s*** is so overdone and over complained about, but it's a real thing that can still happen.
Never trust grace
"When could Mario turn into a cat? I guess if you're into furries, that works. Maybe that'll play really well in Asian markets, I know they love cats over there." - Grace Randolph 2023
The only downside to this movie getting good reviews is that we’re gonna have pop stans stanning this movie.
And I don’t think people are quite prepared for how obnoxious that s*** is about to be.
I’ve already seen some people try throw shade at M:I (?) after these reviews dropped.
Yeah, I’d say this one of the biggest stigma’s of these types of movies.
I think trying to interpret intent like this is misguided. Portraying the executives like cartoonish villains could've been completely the idea of Greta and Noah. Of course Mattel had to give the thumbs up but that doesn't mean they're purposefully attempting to frame themselves in a particular light
