It's not underpaying if that's the salary they accept lol. The amount youre paid is directly proportional to the problem you solve and how easy it is to replace you. The developers and engineers are getting paid well. If the base pay for the guys who box the items or drive the vans is an issue that's more of a federal minimum wage issue than anything.
Let's put it this way, if you had to run this business, what would you do differently?

"The amount you're paid is directly proportional to the problem you solve"

Lol at a certain point you're just already wealthy. and you're no longer solving issues, you are the issue especially with the way this economy has happened, even last year alone

And why exactly should they have bargaining power? they're the ones looking for employment. A lot of those jobs require very little skill, minimal training and can easily be replaced by another. You're going to them for employment, they're not going to you because if you don't want that job, plenty of other people will. Regulation on a federal level is what's needed to change that.
It's not as if everyone that works there gets paid the same. The guys who are less replaceable make more money. That's not exactly a heinous idea.

I'm not saying elon is solving world issues, I'm saying within the company there's 2 objectives, make money and create a better product. If you as a worker can help with either of them in a way that's not easily replaceable then they pay you more. The guy who develop the software or helps engineer the design make significantly more than guys who box the items up or drive the packages.

The labor is necessary but it's not the driving factor, the product is ultimately what creates the wealth and the opportunity for workers. The jobs is easily replaceable. If half the workers in a factory quit , they'd have new employees within a month. I'm not saying workers shouldn't get paid more, I'm saying that's more of a federal or state government issue than some heinous act from elon.

The person or team who designs, patents or engineers the products. The workers at the base level help with mass production, if you were a business owner and you out out a job offer for a base level job at 18 bucks an hour and a bunch of people applied to it, why would you increase the wage? Employment follows the laws of supply and demand as well. How exactly should they have bargaining power if the job they have is very easily replaceable by another person. For anyone to have bargaining power you have to have something that the other person wants or needs and can't easily be replaced.

But again that labor is extremely easy for them to replace at the same quality, bargaining requires that you have something they need from YOU specifically, not just the idea of that action. Yes theoretically if the entire low wage labor force stops working amazon would be in a bad spot but they'd just restructure a little and hire completely new workers within 4 or 5 months. A small group of low wage employees leaving doesn't even minorly inconvenience them whereas a lead engineer leaving could put a big dent in their plans. That's why that guy gets paid more.

You can try and be a d*** about it but it doesn't alter what I said or present a counter. I'm not saying this to be a d***, I'm saying that change at a federal level is necessary to fix this, low end workers won't have bargaining power when the company heads don't even notice if they leave.

I'm not interested in arguing but I'm just curious where you stand on this. How much do you believe Elon Musk contributes to Tesla's success relative to a labor worker building the cars, and how much do you think each should be paid relative to each other? The same?
