Being niche is so much better than all that comes with being a mega star. If you can build a fanbase that consistently buys merch and concert tickets you're set
There's a Philly rapper I follow who only sells his music for 24 hours on Bandcamp then nukes it, a little too hard to keep up with but there's a market for that
