I just think they do best when playing to the humor
RDR2 was a lot more serious and it was their masterpiece story-wise, but I think going that direction would betray the foundations that they built GTA on

I like the idea of the Vice City dude having a daughter and don't see nothing wrong with them having a female protagonist regardless, as long as the game itself is fire
But if you look at this thread people were trying to bait "angry losers" before anyone came in here with that energy and the most "negative" reaction I saw was "I don't want to play as a woman in GTA" and instead of it being treated as his rightful preference, it was "what's wrong with playing as a woman blah blah"
Genuine artistic choices are one thing but I wish these convos of political acceptance and virtue signaling would stay away from art on both sides (misogynists/losers and whatever that antagonistic opposite side is)
That being said it could be a dope game. Feel like the 2/3 player thing would be dope to do again. Maybe set it on different coasts/sides of the country
