ktt is all about arguing and talking about stupid things that don't matter to convince yourself that you are smarter than the people you are arguing with
so basically they just argue a lot even if it's about stupid stuff for the rush of getting like a gotcha moment to feel good about themselves
this is just the internet as a whole
It’s really not
Heartless was released as a stand-alone single, and it’s way more mainstream appealing than a song like Sacrifice is right now
The highest charting new song from After Hours the week it dropped was In Your Eyes at #14, so Sacrifice not being in the Top 10 right now is not a shock at all
i'll give you that, but pushin P with 3 mill views beating sacrifice with 18 mill views is still wild lol
dont u realize that they on even ground now
streaming vs. streaming gunna won, which everyone thought was impossible.
this isn't about who's stans will buy more vinyls, it's about who listened to the album more
But it’s not really fair ground considering that hip hop dominates streaming and everyone knows that
Pop doesn’t stream as strong as rap does, and it benefits way more from physicals and merch sales than hip hop does
Weeknd stans keep mentioning that he didn't have any physicals out, well no s*** Gunna didn't either so how is that an argument
i'll give you that, but pushin P with 3 mill views beating sacrifice with 18 mill views is still wild lol
Youtube views don’t count for much cuz they’re free - Gunna is killing it on Apple Music which are all paid streams
But it’s not really fair ground considering that hip hop dominates streaming and everyone knows that

ok but who cares about merch sales in a conversation about music??
Weeknd stans keep mentioning that he didn't have any physicals out, well no s*** Gunna didn't either so how is that an argument
i’m sure people are buying Gunna vinyls
i'll give you that, but pushin P with 3 mill views beating sacrifice with 18 mill views is still wild lol
That’s just a problem with the way Billboard weighs streams
ok but who cares about merch sales in a conversation about music??
The merch comes with copies of the album, and sometimes fans will buy merch as well as a digital copy to support the artist
I listen to the weeknd regardless of hits or not, in fact I like Dawn FM for its lack of hits, but hes just not as popular as drake, idk what are yall arguing so hard for?
i didn't even see u mention drake at first like i just saw u say that he's not that popular
like if you were just trying to say he's not as popular as drake yea thts true
Weeknd stans keep mentioning that he didn't have any physicals out, well no s*** Gunna didn't either so how is that an argument
Hip hop dominates streaming more than any other genre
Pop benefits way more from physical sales and merch sales
This is not that hard to understand
Man really can’t get a hit without a machine behind him
I assure u he can make "way 2 sexy" he just doesn't want to

the weeknd isn't really that popular besides the few hits
i know the conversation started with me asking about drake and the weeknd on tik tok, but the sentence above was a standalone post and what i was replying to afterwards. that sentence alone just doesn't read accurately.
but sure not many people would deny the weeknd isn't as popular as drake. if your whole argument was in comparison to drake then my bad but i have no idea where Psy came from if that's the case
Weeknd stans keep mentioning that he didn't have any physicals out, well no s*** Gunna didn't either so how is that an argument
i think the point with that is if they counted physicals based on pre-orders like they have in past years this wouldnt have been close. weeknd now gonna sell like 100k on a random week in april bc of vinyl shipping then
but it's pointless argument anyway bc this s*** doesn't matter lol
Hip hop dominates streaming more than any other genre
Pop benefits way more from physical sales and merch sales

And do you realize why that is the case? Because the stans of pop artists go crazy and buy the same album or merch 1000s times. And guess what, that just confirms that they aren't more popular. They rely on their crazy stans to mass buy their products to inflate their sales. The charts are supposed to show who's the most popular among the population and streaming is the perfect metric to show that.

People are trying to say Dawn was a surprise rollout but DS4 actually was one and Dawn wasn't. There's no way we can spin this
lucky mods won’t unlock the other sales thread cause there’s tons of takes that aged like milk of magnesium
Would Gunna have outsold him without the features? what is the narrative here?

I assure you Weeknd does not have a fanbase like that. I don’t think it’s fair that physical copies of an album aren’t counted just because they’re pre orders.
Also if a fan wants to buy multiple physical copies of an album to support an artist they love, what’s wrong with that? It’s still a real person spending real dollars on a copy of the album, it’s not like some fans do where they fake streams by letting an album play on mute or in the background to get the streaming numbers up

A stan buying an album three times is an infinitely more engaged consumer than a guy who hears a gunna song 10 times cuz he shuffles rap caviar on the way to work
