Let’s not forget The Weeknd dropped early for the fans. Label is the one pushing the sales.
how was uploading the deluxe and taking it down genius
😂
Think about it
🅿️ Album is number 1 now

I do not believe this narrative, album was complete 100% with the music videos and everything

lowkey "dropping it early, f*** the rollout" actually was the rollout
I do not believe this narrative, album was complete 100% with the music videos and everything
Rollout was meant to be stretched out longer, but he wanted to put the music out early for the fans to listen to in these trying times
using the seinfeld current day twitter account to prove this point is odd but regardless i agree
First normie thing I could think of that I never would’ve expected a Gunna reference on lmao
I’m sure there are better examples though, tiktok for one

Abel is in a lose lose scenario here because if he goes #1 people will say he fudged the numbers and cheated and if he goes #2 people will just say it’s a massive L that he lost to Gunna
What else is there to discuss

Man’s ain’t losing if we put out a good album. Good music will last

We’ve been in these trying times for 2 years lol and I don’t think fans were starving for the album (not in a bad way) because After Hours’ success was so vast I thought it dropped a year ago not 2
With that being said I love the album but I feel like the narrative that the album was dropped early on purpose is just an excuse for the lower-than-expected sales

This means the labels got involved
Abel definitely had Republic ask for a recount. Yikes.

That’s true. The album may not have been for everyone, but those who like it love it, and I think that’s what matters most.

To @MalibuMorgan’s point there’s absolutely no good reason for Abel to want this to happen, I guarantee Republic stepped in and he’s somewhere like
Gunna album 19 tracks, PP brought it to 20 for last few hours
Weeknd album 16, with a mid week deluxe (Alternate World) bringing the total to 19 for rest of the week
30 tracks a reach and a half
XO fam gotta come up with excuses as to why Dawn FM got outdone. Nothing new.
Don't forget Weeknd released 4 music videos in the same week. That's unheard of. He even released an alternative version to one of the music videos. He did the most to outsell Gunna
And never stopped tweeting about the album throughout the first tracking week. Like never stopped.

On a serious note
Since Cash manages GUNNA, does he secretly not care
Or does his feel a way?

I respect the point made. Music just didn’t hit as heavy with the casual listener as quickly as After Hours did. Hope to see some hits later on down the road
