This the best version cause he knows the quality of the music has to rest purely on itself rather than the type of content he's discussing. Fflexing his rap skills and shedding a lot of the pretense and pandering to make himself "relatable" for people that need to "connect" with celebrities.
There is a reason IYRTITL gets universal respect whereas a lot of his albums dont get love outside of his stanbase. Get in your bag and rap is the Drake that actually the best in the game. The "woah is me", "hear my story" music though good, is actually done better by a few other artists.

I feel you but pandering is always gonna get some criticism, no matter how good the boy is at it. I get that he gotta do that to be as big as he is, but when you feel like it’s inauthentic or “hello fellow kids” it can be slight cringe and this album is the first sign of that

We’re in a weird period rn. I don’t really care about trap rn, but the general public isn’t ready to move on, new sounds haven’t been selling as well as just doing trap again (hnvm vs HL)

Nov 30, 2022okay so i have a lot to say about her loss and drake.
It's kinda funny drake has spent an entire era, the last like 6 or so years, but mainly this past 3 album run, trying so hard to ditch his "soft" persona. he still makes "soft" songs and imo they are his best. IGIFM and Hours n Silence both relatively soft and both standouts for me personally (talking soft lyrically. hes being a simp on these two).
BUT the majority of songs on all these tapes is this bizarre faux tough guy persona he's putting on to DISPROVE the past belief that drake was a soft pick me type guy. that was legit his whole schtick and I guess he got tired of it being what he was known for. As much as i love the brag rap and s***, its made for dudes who are cuffed to live vicariously through. and this is FACTS.
Her loss is great though. just felt like i needed to state my thoughts.
