Quite possibly the greatest menswear designer currently working.

    BIO

Since launching his eponymous collection in September 2002, designer Haider Ackerman has become one of the most commended designers within the fashion industry. The recipient of a Swiss Textile Award and Fashion Group International Award for Design, Ackermann’s signature draped forms and intricate designs have won a legion of dedicated followers, including critic Suzy Menkes , who described the Ackermann as a "rare hope for the future." In September 2016 he joined Berluti as creative director, but exited the label three seasons later.

Throughout his career the Paris-based designer has been approached to head up several prominent design houses including Dior and Martin Margiela. In 2011, he was also selected as a guest designer at the influential Pitti Immagine showcase in Florence. It was here that Ackermann unveiled his first menswear collection to critical acclaim, with the second collection presenting at Paris Fashion Week Men’s in July 2013.
A Columbian native, Ackermann enrolled in the prestigious Royal Academy of Fine Art in Antwerp in 1994, pursuing a degree in fashion design. A noted perfectionist, Ackermann was expelled in 1997 for having failed to complete any of his assignments, a fault he attributes to his desire to produce collections that lived up to his exacting standards.

In 1998, Ackermann began a five-month internship at John Galliano , building his portfolio over the next few years with designers such as Bernhard Willhelm, Patrick Van Ommeslaeghe and Mayerline. Following the launch of his label in 2002, Ackermann guest-designed a collection for premium leather specialist Ruffo Research and in 2005 relocated to Paris, where he set up his studio.

In 2005, Ackermann also signed up with Belgian group BVBA 32, gaining financial backing for his label. The group split Ackermann’s business into a separate entity in 2013 in recognition of the label’s growing prominence. In May 2018, Ackermann announced that he would turn to co-ed shows starting with his Spring/Summer 2019 collection.

Karl Lagerfeld had gone on record saying that he believed Ackermann a worthy successor to his mantle at Chanel, a fitting compliment for one of fashion’s most talented designers.

Dude Haider is severely underrated. And a lot of his following are way too snobby to cop the ‘remakes’ smh

  • Dec 4, 2020

Brand might be going out of business unfortunately . Antonioli didn’t take the package deal with Demeulemeester. Let us all pray. retaildetail.eu/en/news/fashion/future-looks-grim-loss-making-haider-ackermann

I've been watching the stock on certain sizes, and they had a lot.. it's been selling slow

ehhh. We dont know the inventory size. The advertising was very poor, didnt even see it on haiders ig. Very underappreciated brand. Aaand those prices arent exactly 'cheap,' yeah theyre lower than og retail and resell but theyre still quite high.

Wouldn't expect this to sell out for weeks, even if they have a small inventory

Yeah they for sure shouldve brought the chevron back. Guessing its too costly to make or something. These picks arent the best tbh, only f***ing with the velvet bomber which i already have. Perth sweaters are cool but no shot I'm paying $600

I'm really tempted to get the velvet bomber tbh. What's the sizing for it? If I'm between my true size and the size above, would I be okay with settling on tts?

Yea you can even size down. Its a boxy af fit, hella roomy. I typically wear a L and my M fits me perfectly with a good amount of room. This remake has different measurements on the back panel which will make it even larger so I'd suggest sizing down even more. I also have the blue iridescent velvet from 2016 and I have that in a S which also fits, so honestly with haider bombers any damn size will fit

Oh damn I think I'll size down then I usually layer with sweaters but it seems like even going down to a S will be enough room to layer.

I've been dying for either the velvet bomber or the floral one, gonna sleep on it to really make sure I want it tomorrow, sizes are sitting so hopefully I'm good

yeah i agree, but i think they played it a bit safer with this selection to rile the hypebeasts up with the ye stimulus.
to try and see how this type of colleb goes without losing too much money

You’re probably right. Although the chevron and some other pieces like the stained shirts from SS17 are a bit more popular and sought after among Haider heads.

The Perth sweaters and joggers are definitely more ‘street’ tho and I guess they figure streetwear is trendy now so that’ll capture the current broad hypebeast crowd.

Don’t know why he chose HEAT of all people to do this with, the brand must really be in shambles
