he says it's his least progressive which I understand tbh, and he feels like 808's and Yeezus are so much better which I disagree completely but from his mindset can kind of see where he's coming from

I remember during the drink champs 1 episode they were talking about a vs. between his old and new albums and he said that nothing could compete with MBDTF

He seems to appreciate and resent this album because he made the “perfect” album and he feels it’s too unchallenging for him and the audience. That’s the gist of what his talking points are on MBDTF over the years from what I feel. It’s interesting too bc he never approached music with the same laser focus precision “10000 hours rewriting power” imo after this one.

i think that's his sincere view on it. But, as it,'s Kanye he'll say it's mid just for the hell of it. Dude is an enigma and we love him for it.

I think he always recognized it as his "perfect" album, he just felt like he was pushing more boundaries on 808s and Yeezus

I disagree with him I still think it’s immensely creative, especially its almost prog rock elements intertwined in it’s production. A very distinct sound esp when compared to other mainstream rap albums of the time; though I also understand its not as much of a clearly left field sonic shift as say, 808s or yeezus

But I def consider MBDTF innovative

I still listen to this album regularly

One of my favorite moments in music

Has a baroque feel but it’s so hip hop. He took elements of traditional hip hop (samples, drum breaks, bars) and added some orchestration to the sound. Love the rock elements too.

The themes, production, sequencing, the verses. The features went crazy. He was on his Rosewood s*** too. That Horus chain. The stage setup of the performances around this time. George Condo with the album art. Come on bruh 🤦🏾‍♂️

It was all so epic bro. S*** changed how I viewed music overall. Wish I could go back to being young and looking at all this like magic
