My friend and I were talking last night and he made me listed to Hard Knock Life through his studio monitors and he said the bass is off key. I listened and it now I can't unhear it lmao.

If you're on a phone, you might not be able to tell, but listen in a whip or on some monitors and lmk if you feel the same. Idk how I never noticed it.

edit: specifically it's the 4th and 8th bass note in the pattern and it becomes more apparent during Jay's first verse

It’s not out of tune.. jus that the C4 (from the orchestra accent-that comes in on every 4th 8th note and the F4 on the bass line are played at the same time.. it jus creates a lil dissonance in the ear is all.. the pitch is definitely centered tho

yeah not the whole thing but the tension it causes with those two off notes is killer

‘Tension’ is exactly what it is.. most perfect 4th intervals (C4-F4) are alway dissonant. Sounds a bit strange without any ‘fillers’

i would just prefer it if it sounded like the note hit correctly to my ears, but yep, that's why i used the word tension
