I watched that movie before the show was ever worked on and my response was "wow this is perfect for a remake because it's a big concept but they couldn't really do it justice"
Another example, Dune.
Harry Potter is not like those.
Many have said there’s a lot of material they weren’t able to do in the movies so we’ll see

It’s been so long since I read the books I can only remember a few things movies skipped
The books are trash baby lit. At least the movies had some great performances and directors and production design etc.
