No because it doesn’t sound like Nas’s old stuff
That’s literally the album’s mission statement that Nas raps on the intro haha
Lmaooooooo facts. Need to revisit that one its been a while

This.
Stillmatic was more conceptual and had gritter/less polished sounding production.
Nas named it that way because it was a comeback album after Jay dissed him and some critics claimed he fell off.
That Metroboomin album that sounds like early 2000s hip hop was good and had some hits.
That s*** piss me off because it blends hella different eras into “early 2000’s”
Lmao niggas was not wearing big shirts and shorts and s*** in the futuristic era
Depends on how genuine the first thing was
You cant be young and hungry again but you can identify a type of rapping and beat style down to a science to where its just about execution
i hear the argument, but i would argue that's a lot easier said than done and there's hella examples, but that's getting off topic
Man on the moon 3 title was a cash grab based on TikTok kids giving his nearly dead career at the time a second life
If anything he put out since motm2 fit that lineage enough to justify the title it would’ve been ppds
agreed
nah
It usually never hits the same
Jay on 4:44 is honestly the only time I’ve ever seen someone bring back the old vibes after a string of mid releases
Every time Kanye has geared up to drop since 2018 “he’s on some My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy 2 s***”
MOTM3 to an extent? idk if Cudi said he was going back to old Cudi style but the title kinda does that on its own. there was a decent amount of filler though
was his best work in forever but nothingl like the originals

motm3 was really good though so it doesn’t rly matter. The Void is one of his best songs
as sooon as you acknowledge your old s*** is better youve lost
The greats start faltering when they look back imo.
denzel curry on that one song he dropped 2 years ago
the project was terrible tho
Can't name one artist that was able to. All the more proof you should never look back creatively

Interesting case. Its an older sound but I guess not really “his” older sound right? Just something he grew up loving

Eh...4:44 was very different from early Jay music tbh.
Jay's early music was basically street raps or luxury raps with some introspection.
If anything, 4:44 was a far superior version of what Jay was trying to do with Kingdom Come.

Motm3 hate so forced
Black Metal 2 fits becaue it's great but Dean Blunt is also the kind of self-aware guy who would know how goofy a sequel is

for him I agree it’s not a 1:1 recreation but rap wise, it’s definitely him going back to his old style. He went for a stripped down confessional old school rap sound as opposed to him chasing hits and trendy beats like on BP3 or MCHG
Motm3 hate so forced
Nope
They just be yappin sometimes for promo
Ngl it’s always artists that are washed that say this
No artist trying to move backwards unless it makes them money
And if that doesn’t work, it’s time for the self-titled
Every time Kanye has geared up to drop since 2018 “he’s on some My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy 2 s***”
Tbf it's not him saying that, it's always his inner circle hyping that s*** up
I remember Push hyping TLOP as the best thing since MBDTF lol

Best album of last year

i think yandhi was the one time he said he was locked in with the intention of making a MBDTF-level masterpiece and that wound up being his worst album to date. sad part is how much great music had to go to waste for him to fumble that era the way he did.
