I’m not defending Frank. I barely listen to him but I acknowledge he’s a goat. Weekend is unoriginal and does absolutely nothing special on the other hand and doesn’t deserve any praise just because he can hit the same high notes he always does while spewing the same vulgar s*** opposite of what Michael Jackson would say while using his voice

Frank marketing is so crazy — these internet nerds swear this is the best album of all time, but all it is is Frank with high pitched mysterious vocals crooning over various mid LoFi/struggle Neptunes instrumentals, only subject matter is singing about various d*** innuendos and homosexual intercourse.
Not to be biased, but After Hours clears this quite easily. I’m sure the court of public opinion would agree with me as well, however, unfortunately internet nerds are always the loudest, so it may seem to appear otherwise. Oh well!

I understand your misconception and would like to try to explain it a little bit. Sometimes songs come across as 'simple' to people because they lack the depth in vocabulary that other songs have. If you take a deeper look, you will see how impressive it is how writers have managed to articulate so many thoughts and feelings with their carefully crafted choice of words. What was left out in favor of these carefully crafted choices leaves room for the listener to relate and shape the music into a perfect fit in their own puzzle.
