How? It's one of the most iconic hip hop and pop beats of the 2000s

And there's something cool about him looking to such a blues-influenced, gospel-influenced sample to make the biggest hit of his career. It puts him in a very special lineage and tradition

Also, it preempts the vintage remix sound that became so big in a lot of countries festival and club scene for a while

And in some ways it predates what he's doing on Monster too

Gold Digger is his most iconic song OAT

    Stronger is his biggest hit.

People didn’t start s***ting on Gold Digger until Kanye himself did. I’d pay it no mind.

And the context was that he preferred how he sampled Curtis Mayfield on Otis as opposed to Gold digger and that he didn’t “really” wanna do the Gold digger record but knew it would get him paid.

I always thought Kanye said that just to be contrarian. He performed the 18 years verse for Def Poetry Jam and was gonna include it as a bonus track on College Dropout. There’s no way he didn’t want to do the record tbh

    Stronger is his biggest hit.

I don't think so tbh, Stronger is only bigger if you count the sample as well which you can't really That sample was already big to a lot of people.. I feel like both get meshed together in a lot of people's mind, but Gold Digger feels more standalone culturally.

Gold Digger is his only song on the all time Billboard Hot 100 too..

Stronger is by all mesures his biggest song. It's Pop-rap the crossover appeal alone puts it over golddigger

Kanye couldve taken inspo from any renowned uk jungle/dnb producer and he decides to use flux pavillion

😂😂😂😂 that was a pretty good track

Lift Yourself beat is legitimately bad

like the sample is good but once the actual beat comes in it reminds me of that RZA guitar center video

    I actually agree
The sample is the only thing that’s legitimately good on it but even that’s overrated

If J Cole made the lift yourself beat everybody on the internet would clown him

  • Nov 16, 2019
