Can ovo sound get any bigger as a label? I feel like roy woods , Majid jordan ,DVSN & Baka been making a strong push for a few years now & still haven’t really broke through & become household name. Do you think they can still do it in the next year or two? Or has the window of opportunity closed for these gentlemen?

PND should have been where 6lack is in his career right now
PND has achieved everything 6lack has achieved and more.
level if touring, record sales etc etc
Majid just had their biggest single yet so yeah
Dvsn keeps growing his fanbase too and roy can also get a lot bigger if he sticks to singing
Being a household name is not an everyday thing. Why do yall expect ovo artists to be superstars

is he not?
The good thing is Drake still hasn't signed a rapper so he's still fine in that aspect of his legacy (Baka doesnt count)

Hey you’re the Kino guy too smh. What happened to Majid Jordan and DVSN? They’ve been quiet af
No?
Party has albums that are anticipated. I don't get that feeling from 6lack

i apologize.
Majid Jordan dropped an amazing single last month. Album soon
Dvsn released their album A Muse In Her Feelings last year and the deluxe Amusing Her Feelings in january. Theyre working with Jermaine Dupri on their new project
Feel like they have all peaked creatively other than maybe majid jordan
Majid Jordan always has a next gear. Jordan ullman is probably one of the best producers in the past ten years and definitely influenced the soundscape from 2013 onwards in pop music, just listen to all of Ariana grandes albums and afterhrs by The Weeknd.
They sound like old majid Jordan beats.
Party always has the next gear, his pen is undeniable and will be everlasting like darkchilds.

Great take , I just thought Majid jordan would have been the cool indie pop /r&b darlings of the world by now , but waves of blue might be the right song they needed to though

Yeah majid jordan still got untapped potential for sure
With party pm was such a step down production, vocals and writing wise so idk
His vocal tone also seems to have changed entirely so i rlly dont see him reaching his old highs
I think OVO strategy is a lot different than we usually see with artists. All of these artist go the Weeknd Route.
Now im not saying they copy Abel but look at the trajectory of Abel.
He started off and gained buzz among a select group of listeners that had an interest in the type of music that he brings/or bought. Making a hit is easy - sustaining is difficult.
Weeknd still had those core fans when he released the starboy album but that album was a lot mainstream that just elevated his status to a mainstream level. Look at the amount of projects abel dropped to lock in his core listeners. Mainstream listeners can and will come later.
I think its a wise approach by OVO to take it slow - we usually complain why OVO or their artists dont do much or take things at faster pace. But look around you - Majid Jordan has a core audience that will always listen to them no matter how mainstream etc they get, Roy woods the same and other acts to some extent as well. PND too ofcourse but I think he's better off writing for other people atleast thats what his output suggest.
TLDR: we complain that OVO artists not do as much as they should do but i think OVO label strategy is a lot more long term than just going mainstream. Going mainstream or getting hits is the easy part - sustaining is the hard part.
