I believe most of it is due to women riding the rap trend or blowing up because of the trend of women getting championed. It's easier to take advantage of it when you make cookie cutter and surface level s*** with no substance. I hope there's more diversity over time

It only became that successful because of two things:
1. Cardi hasn’t dropped a 2nd album in 5 years, so ofc her debut will garner most of the streams since she doesn’t have anymore albums out.
2. She benefited from being the 1st female rapper in years to overthrow Nicki, who was the only one poppin at the time.
It can’t be compared when 50 Cent almost got blackballed after Power Of The Dollar got shelved before releasing Get Rich or Die Tryin.
