When people look at the album retrospectively do they appreciate it more than they did when it was released? NWTS will always be my favourite album but I think Views was over hated. I’d put it 4th for all his projects. Lots of songs I still f*** with on there like weston road flows and redemption.
Only people I see hating Views are music snobs who act like every song has to be 10/10 to be an enjoyable album. It’s not perfect but it had a lot of great songs and a lot of folks have memories associated with it

for sure
the expectations made ppl sleep on a really good album
even at the time it dropped, I enjoyed a good amount of the album
certain songs like grammys and pop style i still don't like but others like Hype and Still Here grew on me bc nostalgia
the production on most of Views is really great and the whole thing sounds crispy
Keep The Family Close is one of his best tracks ever tbh
iyrtitl + views are the only two drake albums i truly love tbh. the atmosphere on them is untouchable i've never understood the hate
he got lost in the sauce making this album. a lot of ambition a lot of brilliance but also a lot of tryhard mid that just didnt pan out. weakest parts of the album are the pure rap songs.
Unfortunately never grew for me at all. My dislike for it either changes between it feeling overly poppy with the rapping not being too good or his energy just feeling off on the album due to the Meek beef at the time (or just everything at once).
The era leading up to it as we all know is goated though. In terms of a highly anticipated album, it’s probably his most divisive until today imo.

its weird cus drake said he raps better when his back is against the wall. he aint rap as well during this time period for some reason
the great songs from it were great when they came out and have stood the test of time. I wasn't big on the dancehall wave, it was a bit of an overkill for me, but those 2 songs were huge too.
but keep the family safe, redemption, fire and desire, feel no ways, Weston road flows - all those songs are timeless entries in his discogprahy.
I remember I was on a roadie and dude driving only had one CD and it was views (recently came out) .. I hadn’t listened to the entire album front to back until that day it was a 3-4 hour roadie and I was very much enjoying the music … never grew on me because it was good since day 1

I totally agree with this. His rap songs on the album were not. He put in a lot more effort in his emotional songs. Redemption, Fire and Desire are two clear examples.
VIEWS had an inverted bell curve effect for me. Loved it on release, eventually went through a period where I thought it was too low-energy and sullen, and then I went back to loving it
Classic album with only one questionable song. Shoutout Channing Tatum. Every other song is 10/10
It's a singles oriented album that's not that strong as an actual whole album.
There's about as much of a case for Views being a classic as Hollywood's Bleeding. In fact, that latter album is more critically acclaimed.
Views might be able to be viewed as a classic based on impact/popularity but that's about it.
But Views is not on par with his 2009-2015 albums as a whole album. Every time people try to push Views being a
"classic" it revolves around sales and summer anthems more than the album as a whole.

The best songs on it aren't even singles lmao
Just typing to type
Nobody ever said Hollywood's Bleeding defined a year in their life like they did with VIEWS. Music that sticks with people is the definition of a classic album
