For my second thread, I wanted to ask y'all another question. Have any of your friendships ever ended over a musical discussion?

It has happened for me twice. On both occasions, I was talking about an artist/album with my friend. Naturally, we have different opinions based on our own biases, experiences and beliefs.

I keep the conversation strictly on observable things occurring in the music, but they can't seem to do the same.

It always takes a bad turn when they start engaging in personal attacks and insults over a difference in musical opinions.

Perhaps they are insecure in their musical taste, but that's no reason to escalate it to that level.

Has anyone had similar experiences?

He wasn't really my friend though, and there was no falling out.
