This is the same world where Marvin Gaye's estate gets royalties for 'Blurred Lines' so I disagree
Also "inspired and influenced" doesn't mean it contains a sample or even an interpolation, all it's doing is setting a slippery slope where any "inspiration" can be rewarded with a songwriting credit no matter how tenuous the connection really is
Don’t care, one of my favs gonna get paid for the rest of her life over a song she don’t even like anymore 😆😆😆
It makes you sick that a rich ass teenage girl is making slightly less money imagine
Same logic can be applied the other way around, that millionaires are trying to make more money off someone else's songwriting
And it makes me sick because this means anybody can get a songwriting credit for inspiring another person's work if the vibe or style of the song is similar
And Josh has been effectively excommunicated from the band and hasn’t been in the band for over 10 years 🤣🤣🤣 u know his ass happy
I really never saw similarities
Just cus it’s a punk song and both are women?
literally this is all it is
it's cause they're women singing in the same vocal range with guitars in the background
lmaooo if it was a male singer it would be so much harder to argue
laughs in Sting & The Police
crazy cause this song would play in the back of my head cause of Tik Tok and I’d be confused whether it was misery business or good 4 u that was playing lol
I can already smell the “YOU CANT OWN CHORDS” cop out from a mile away due to people’s only frame of reference for music theory related to crediting disputes being chords as if chords are the only component of music composition
But the chorus in Good 4 U has not only the same chords but nearly identical: harmonic rhythm, tempo, melodic contour, vocal performance, vocal range, groove, subgenre, sound, and is only one semitone up from Misery Business - all simultaneously
So yes, Paramore and Hayley Williams should absolutely get a credit on this song
Been a few pages since someone quoted this
Billie gonna come for her for that strawberry ice cream song too
Then she, Lorde, Taylor,... should have some words with Lana too
That's why it's good to use a musicologist after you're done making a song to ensure it doesn't sound too similar with an older song. Sometimes, you'll make a song that sounds similar to a 40 year-old song that you've never heard and if that song blows up enough, you'll get sued to hell.
It's better to figure out if your song(s) sound similar with older songs, ask the writers of that song if they'll want credit and sort that s*** out BEFORE you release the song. It just saves you the headache of dealing with that after because the writers can demand something as crazy as Sting taking 85% of the royalties of Lucid Dreams because it interpolates his 1993 hit, Shape of My Heart.
Lmao do you think "musicologists" know all songs in existence?
Lmao do you think "musicologists" know all songs in existence?
No, they don't but there are professionals whose job it is to let you know if your song has similar chord projections to older songs.
that old hag hailey jealous of queen olivia ?
Tell me you’re 15 without telling me you’re 15.
I swear these 2000’s bands the most overrated entities in the universe
Better than 90s and 80s big bro, 2005-2014 was the actual rock/punk/metal/post whatever, golden age
This bringin out Hayley thirst traps thank u Olivia for having no talent and being forced to copy other artists’ work
