It's not absolutely essential considering this takes place before GOT, butttt it will definitely be wayyy more impactful

It's annoying seeing posts online saying "o is this show gonna be rushed at the end too??"

It takes a few seconds to Google to see that the GOT writers arent involved in anyway and the Dance Of Dragons storyline is completed, it has a conclusion. Nothing will be rushed about this show.

And all of the best contributors to the original series are returning.

Ramin Djawadi is doing all the music (he did the score for all of GOT)

Miguel Sapochnik is one of the showrunners. (He directed Hardhome, Battle Of The B******s, and Winds of Winter)

My prediction is that season 1 will at the very least be GOT season 1 quality.

To be fair this will be happening 300 years before Game Of Thrones. This isn't an origin for any characters we've seen in the OG show

George wrote thousands of years of history and lore for Westoros so dont think of GOT as the only story in this universe.
