The last book ended with Jon getting killed. Up until that point everything was fairly accurate, like 75% I'd say. They changed some stuff. Like Jon never went to Hardhome for instance, he just sends Tormund and a few guys. Arya never met Tywin, she met Roose Bolton. Robb Stark has a way lesser role in the books. You mostly just hear about him through other people. Stuff like that. The main story beats are still the same though. I wouldn't say one is better than the other but the books are fantastic.
Everything after season 5 from the sound of it are like bullet points GRRM gave them and they interpreted their own way.

Me neither, I was good with the mainline books.
Kind of wish they made a Roberts Rebellion prequel instead.

I listened to a detailed recap a while ago and it was amazing. Definitely has elements of the early seasons of thrones that I loved, specifically the politicking. I just hope they don’t shoehorn in the families that are important in GoT lore but aren’t actually prominent during the Dance. Showrunners seem to be staying faithful to the book so it looks good so far
For anyone not familiar with this story, it does have an ending.
And the showrunners are staying extremely faithful to the source material
So there is no reason to think they'll pull a GOT season 8
How many season do you think they’d need? Seen lore channels saying 3 should be enough if they don’t use too much filler
Edit: nvm saw your other post, yeah 3-4 sounds good
Really hope this is a smash
I hate the people tryna write off GOT just because they hated the last season.
Everyone hated it but don't mean you gotta trash the whole show. Us book fans will prolly never get an ending but it don't mean it was time wasted. For me anyway
It's not that deep I just wanna be able to talk bout the classic moments without some c***y crying about the ending
the chick that plays young rhaenyra has a scary ass face
