I think critics only reviewed 6 eps
I don’t like how they review shows as episodes come out. Should wait till whole season is out
Give thoughts and opinions as episodes come out but review shouldn’t be counted on sites till season ends
Who gives a s*** what critics think about anything at this point
This an unpopular opinion on KTT but I never had a reason in my life thinking I'd have to listen to someone else validate on what I'm listening to/watching
Wasn't using much internet when I was a little kid so everything I consumed was direct, no middle ground like a person telling me if it's good or not
I never seen the appeal of critics as a profession
I might check it out sure to see what they're saying but it literally holds no merit to me at all
Until KTT I didn't even know what's Anthony Fantano and to think people listen to these guys is baffling to me
No irony in my rant neither I'm genuinely confused
Solid
that poster is so fire
Hyped as hell for the episode tomorrow. I just hope the dialogue is as good as GoT (Seasons 1-4). I'm glad the best writer is in the show and GRRM himself
I heard that the writer (forgot his name) and GRRM had already written a portion of the show and then they took it to HBO to see if they would give the go ahead

It leaked?
Yep
ain't watching no leaks till niggas can assure me the quality isn't ass
anyways, im so f***ing hype
ep 1 already got me shaking
we are truly back to the ultimate prestige tv

Maybe I can help clear it up a little bit.
I don’t care what the subject matter of something is. I just want a good story with characters I care about. Roger Ebert has a quote where he says “it’s not what a movie is about, it’s how it is about it” and that’s essentially my mentality. Like this show for example, I liked the majority of Game of Thrones, but that doesn’t tell me if I might like the spin-off.
So, if this is how you think, you need to develop some metric to help you find the media you want to consume. Trailers can indicate a little, but I find them entirely misleading and manipulative. But, I’ve noticed, if something has a high rotten tomato, or if Fantano liked it, more often than not, I’m going to find something of value in that entertainment. If someone I trust enjoyed something, chances are, I might like it too.
I don’t like seeing a full review before I watch something tho. Spoilers and all. A review is more fun after you’ve formed your own opinion, because then it’s like a conversation. You don’t have to change your opinion, but hearing someone else’s might make you wrestle with what you really think. We should never be married to our opinions. People are so f***ing terrified of having their opinions challenged, as if they’re etched in stone. But the things we truly love, deep in our bones, are not so easily swayed. And I’d rather know if my love is shallow or deep, because there’s plenty of deep love to go around.

The metric I use to "grade" a media, let's say, is through friends or the overall spread of the word and I do my own googling to see if I'll mess with something
I personally don't like when movies/shows/albums are graded with numbers. I don't have an alternative but I don't like it at all.
The experience you get when watching something is beyond numbers and metrics sometimes so you just have to experience it yourself no matter the positives or negatives surrounding it
I can't describe Samsara, for example, and I can't put it in words or numbers how captivating it is
I also agree that trailers do a disservice most of the time, they hold no importance to a movie except promo and that's all it they are. Since I got busy after teenage years, I don't keep up on trailers, I haven't seen any and I'm better off for it
I fw your explanation because I always try to be a contrarian (for lack of a better word within context) when I consume media.
I'll set it up so that if
everybody like it - why?
nobody like it - why?
And go from there
You got deep into it when u didn't have to
