I know they can't put everything on screen but the dance of dragons source material is the best possible adaptation lol there's enough battles, politicking, side characters and plot for a lot of episodes.

I guess what I mean is that you can’t have 32 hours straight of pure high gear tv. They had to stretch and create little vacuums for tv consumption. Maybe you can argue it’s been too much vacuum this season. But I’ve been enjoying it.
