I know it's ultimately not important but I never realized how low the MC score for this was. I remember it being not dramatically high but it has a significantly lower score than any season of GOT.

Yea critics were pretty hard on this show at the beginning. But some of the critiques was because some critics thought it was too confusing because all of the names, or that there were too many characters being introduced lmaoo.
I also feel like they were spending too much time comparing it to GOT instead of trying to appreciate as its own thing

The pacing was another complaint, but imo the pacing was necessary to set up for the real conflict. You can’t tell this story the same way GOT was told

And as far as the audience Metacritic score….welll

ngl at first I was someone who complained about the pacing, but by the end of the season I had gotten over it.

And yeah, audience scores were never something I took stock in, but over the past few years it's just become a haven for people to complain about a show/movie being "woke"

Yea the pacing is initially jarring for sure. But on rewatch it all makes a lot more sense and doesn’t feel rushed at all

It would’ve been a massive mistake if they split season 1 in to two seasons.
