Parasite, one of the most acclaimed movies of 2019, is heading to HBO as a limited series.
Bong Joon Ho, who wrote and directed the Palm d’or winner and Oscar hopeful, is teaming with Adam McKay, whose recent work The Big Short and Vice has earned him multiple awards nominations.
Deals are not done but talks are underway with HBO, which came out on top of a bidding war with Netflix for the rights.
It is unclear if the limited series will be some sort of follow-up to the movie or an English-language remake.
Creative details are in the early stages but Bong and McKay would adapt the movie for an English-language limited series. The pair would exec produce as well.
Also executive producing will be Kate Street Picture Company’s Dooho Choi and CJ Entertainment’s Miky Lee Cho Young Ki, and Francis Chung. McKay’s partner at Hyperbole Industries Kevin Messick will also exec produce.
CJ’s Jerry Ko is co-executive producing while CJ’s Fred Lee will act as producer.
not needed at all bruh
the fact that bong is involved gives me hope, but I still can’t shake the thought of like ... why this needs to be a thing
If this is a follow up I'm interested in seeing where Bong will take it
If it's a remake

bong being “involved” doesnt mean he actually is, he was also “involved” on the snowpiercer sjow
wonder if they will turn the family into illegal immigrants if this is a American remake.
He’s put out stuff in English before tweet is misunderstanding the point
Also this is def not like a Bong directed show or anything lmao
had a long discussion after the movie about what an American remake would be like...and what races could be put where...
we dont need an American version

I think it's more about the timing of everything
But yeah there is Snowpiercer and other studs but he made a pretty strong statement about foreign films
