I still feel like the ending was really bad like it fell so flat and wrapped up in such an inconsequential way imo

I honestly barely remember the ending which isn’t a good thing ofc.
I remember the nostalgia pill/family trauma simulation episode with the black police officer
And the episode where Doc Manhattan talks to Regina King in the bar.
But not the ending.
I’m near the end of my rewatch. Curious to see how the ending works while watching it all in a week rather than waiting weekly

mannn s*** started so good and felt so rushed the last few episodes

I think it was very safe and uninteresting tbh, I should re-watch the show tho maybe my opinion on it would change, even tho I'm kinda like a watchmen purist I think watchmen should just be the comic books

I actually just just read the comics properly for the first time!
I read them as a kid when the movie dropped but I realised I just looked at the pictures and barely followed the plot.
I read the comics then went straight into the show. I love how some elements are adapted.
Showing people who survived the squid attack live with severe ptsd and go to meetings together is pretty obvious but I thought really cool to see
Rorschach’s journal becoming a bible for right wing extremists
The minute men story turning into an American horror story type tv show
Squids raining from the sky just being part of life now
dr Manhattan phone booths where people can pray to him by sending messages to mars
I think those sort of story continuations are really interesting and inspired
I’ve seen people who love the comics think the show should burn in hell and people who think of it as canon and really love it’s exploration so I definitely know both sides are valid (unless they hate it just because it talked about race and followed a black woman and made Rorschach a racist icon)

Oh yeah tbh until the like 2last episodes I was in love with the show and how it used the original story in such a relevant way, especially the Rorshach manifesto thing that was really well done... But like as the show went on it felt like there was no real plot holding the whole thing together... It was my biggest disappointment of 2019 tbh, hol up star wars 9 dropped a few days after the finale I take that back

Omg you had a rough Q4 2019 with these two things.
I’m gonna keep an eye on the last few eps!!
I f***ing LOVED this damn show at the time like I was obsessed with it
but I 1) hadn’t read the comics
And 2) just loved watching a weekly show again that had mystery and a lot of style and clever weird cool s*** in it
So I’m curious to see how it holds up now, especially the ending.
But I still really love this show and just love seeing it talked about in any capacity

Ironically both watchmen and star wars 9 were directed/written by Lost creators and Lost is my favorite show these guys fell off damn
Tbh this convo got me really curious and I think I'll re-watch the show very soon

You should peep that for sure!! Especially since lost is your favourite I’m sure you’ve been told before but that’s some greatness too.
After watchmen I saw a lot of people saying Leftovers is similar/better and since they’re both Lindelof they have similar styles. 3 pretty short seasons but the emotion and storylines will stick with you

Yeah I did see some parts of the show and it was always some heavy stuff, will definitely find the motivation to watch it sooner or later!
Watching the watchmen movie for the first time. 3 hours and 35 minutes long
But I’m currently an hour and ten minutes in it. It’s lit so far
either starting this or the leftovers next...
been struggling for about two weeks trying to decide which one. help

If you’re struggling trying to decide I would say go for Watchmen solely because it’s 9 eps and that’s it. Leftovers S1 isn’t that sick but 2/3 are amazing.
And if you like watchmen style youll know leftovers has it in spades

Still need to watch Lost smh

You should!! It’s dope but as every year passes it becomes even harder to jump into the commitment. Shows got shorter and shorter with like 8/9/10 episodes for hour longs (and for half hours in some cases). It’s the old 20+ episode season with hour long eps and so naturally there’s a lot of filler and episodes where they couldn’t do much budget-wise.
But it is very cool
I’m also not really sure if public opinion sees it as a classic all time piece of media it has its huge fans tho for sure

Word man. I’ve only seen like 2 episodes last year lol.
I have a long list of shows I need to watch and rewatch still.
