If that qualifies as weird for an artist it might beg the question, why is it so uncommon and weird to hear them change their vocal range? Could it be because their work is so homogeneous that hearing a slight variation is shocking?
i had to circle back to this. i feel your counterpoints and it made me think on something. I feel like Gasoline is this year's White Dress from Lana. it's not so much that Weeknd or Lana don't possess great vocal range or utilize it, but when is it done sparingly and to great effect then it definitely becomes something of a standout. like when Drake hit the falsetto on the Fetty remix. that verse lives on to this day because we were shocked to hear him in that delivery. it's just refreshing, more than "weird" i'd say.

I think there was some efforts to suppress the picture, also Pusha did something weird in the rollout where it wasn’t immediately clear what the picture even was, it didn’t reach the public as much for whatever reason
