provideri had to circle back to this. i feel your counterpoints and it made me think on something. I feel like Gasoline is this year's White Dress from Lana. it's not so much that Weeknd or Lana don't possess great vocal range or utilize it, but when is it done sparingly and to great effect then it definitely becomes something of a standout. like when Drake hit the falsetto on the Fetty remix. that verse lives on to this day because we were shocked to hear him in that delivery. it's just refreshing, more than "weird" i'd say.
