will we ever see moments like this for Drake?
Is he this level of musical / cultural icon?
is it even possible to compare it?
I really hate that he put that bar in his song bc I think its apples and oranges, he's just not in the same era & that's fine.
Drake is a GOAT for our time.
But not on MJ status if you ask me
FATD is a great album to me but this comparison is getting under my skin like orange peels tbh
#1's in the streaming era doesnt mean the same thing as a #1 pre-streaming.
theres drake songs that didnt go number 1 pre-streaming that had more impact than songs that are going #1 for him now
The world is such a different place now with the internet and social media. We can't really speculate on how MJ would do here or Drake would do back then but I'd say he's the modern day equivalent while not being a direct clone simply because you need to do a lot more to be relevant in a time when everyone has a voice with the power of the internet
He gets a lot of talk among his peers and fans even those who hate him can't help but watch his every move. Every move is a moment in hip-hop culture

Drake doesn't dance or sing as good not even f***ing close but he dominates the music charts and has longevity like MJ. They've both won Artist Of The Decade, the most coveted award for any artist

If Drake is still a cultural icon 40 years after his peak, we can compare the two
We're not even close to that point
different times
people dont worship celebs the same way as they did before
if mj was from this era he wouldnt have had the same impact either

No,these new charts are the book definition of unfair when you have artist comparing streams to actual physical product being sold in stores.

Closest things in rap to MJ were prime Wayne, Ye, 50, Em and X
